Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-01-01
Unowd is currently in private development. This policy explains how we handle personal data collected through our website and waitlist.
Who is responsible for your data (Controller)
Controller: Egoitz Aulestia (operating the Unowd project).
Privacy contact: privacy@unowd.com
Unowd is currently operated as an individual project (not yet incorporated).
What we collect
- Email address (only when the waitlist form is enabled and you submit it).
- Form/security metadata (only when the waitlist form is enabled; e.g., timestamp and IP address may be processed for anti-spam/abuse and security).
- Basic request data processed by our hosting provider when you visit the site (such as IP address and request metadata) for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
How we use your data
- To contact you about beta access and product/beta updates.
- To manage staged access (invite waves) and understand demand at a high level.
- To protect the website and waitlist from spam/abuse, support security and reliability, and investigate incidents when needed.
We do not sell your personal data.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent: to use your email for the waitlist and product updates (you can withdraw anytime).
- Legitimate interests: to secure our website, prevent abuse/spam, and maintain service reliability (e.g., basic logs).
You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@unowd.com.
Third-party processors
We currently use the following service providers to run the website and handle waitlist submissions:
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of this website.
- Formspree — collects waitlist form submissions and forwards them to us.
- Google Workspace (Gmail) — receives form notifications and is used for email communications.
These providers may process personal data on our behalf under their own privacy policies and terms.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers (Vercel, Formspree, and Google Workspace) may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (including in the United States). Where this happens, transfers are protected using appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Retention
Waitlist data is kept until the beta launch is completed or until you request deletion (and we review the list periodically).
Basic security/request logs are retained for a short period and only as needed for security and reliability, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or incidents.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights to access, rectification, deletion, restriction, portability, and to object in certain cases. You can withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@unowd.com. We usually respond within one month (and may extend for complex requests, as permitted by law). We may ask for information to verify your identity.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Spain, the AEPD).
AI transparency (future)
This website and waitlist do not require you to interact with an AI system. If and when Unowd introduces AI features, we will publish an AI transparency notice and update this policy before those features go live, explaining the purpose, the data used, and any user choices available.
